I'm sorry I will get my shit together... and I promise when I do, I will write like a super hero and bust out some awesomeness... you know how I do! For now, I am sorry. I have to go crawl back in bed and pray that FTD lets me stay there...
Oh, wait! I do have one thing to say. Lately I have heard the term "Ginger" being thrown around like it is an acceptable way to describe a person. Well, personally, as a mother of a redhead I think it is offensive, just as "red" was twenty years ago. What makes it ok that people can point their finger and say, "He is a ginger?" I think that is just plain rude.
What difference does it make if someone has red hair? I am a blonde and HATED the constant blonde jokes. I have no doubt that red heads are annoyed and offended by being called names over the color of their hair too. It is discrimination and in my book, that is low.
If you are someone who uses the term ginger to describe someone with red hair, please stop. Or at lease ask someone you know with red hair what they think of it to get some prospective. My son has strawberry blonde hair, and people are constantly pointing it out. Calling him a ginger is not something I find endearing at all!
TIP: Just in case you were not taught this... When you point a finger at someone, 3 fingers are pointing back at you. Go ahead, try it, point your finger... see I told you so.
Have a great weekend everyone, I will be on my game like a Louisville Cardinal in no time!

P.s. please go vote for my shit, I am falling from Top Mommy Blog grace and it makes me sad, like when people call red heads gingers. (Just one click below and the vote is cast!)

With a red-headed brother, husband and son, I can 100% concur with this!! Plus, why comment at all? Everywhere I go, the first thing people say about Cooper is "ohh look at his hair!".. yes he has red hair, I have brown, yes his dad is a red head, can we move on now?!
LMAO. Dave's friend always calls Kaely "Ginger"- her response usually consists of "GRRRRRR!!!!" and she runs forward with her fist into his stomach. Of course this is a viscous cycle of thinking its cute/funny, but um, yeah... and God! You slacker! (LOL- you just described the past couple months for me!)

Just wanna point out to the American readers that "mostly" throughout Australia, the United Kingdom and other former colonies of the once-grand British Empire...the "G's" in "GINGER" are usually pronounced with a HARD "G" (so it rhymes with SINGER).
Don't confuse the pronunciation with the flavourful and useful root "ginger" which is often used in Asian cuisine and has a "well grounded" (ha ha) place in society.
Ok, so i'm one of 6 kids in my family...5 of them had red hair. I have brown (occasionally) - everyone always had something to say about them and me being the odd man out! But the red head comments were always soooo stupid - carrot top being the most annoying. Carrot tops are green. So...anyway, my 4th is my only redhead and we run into it too - i don't know why there are things in life that people think it's ok to loudly announce in a shocked way??? Love this:) Happy Friday!
Ummm I'm a redhead and my son is a redhead and I call myself a GINGER cause I like it. I don't mind it when people call me a ginger, cause I am. So it kind of depends on the person. But if you make it seem like a bad word then it kind of becomes one.
I get the same with Ollie. And before FTD started shaving his head he had a head full of red hair. sad really... why do people feel the need to point out the obvious and somehow say it in such a way that it is bad?
I know I am a totaly slacker.... and I am glad to hear Kaely stands up rather than runs!
My sister got woody wood pecker and the red head step child all of the time. I never understood, because I loved her red hair!
I'm glad you do not take offense and like it. When someone points at my son and says wow he's going to be a Ginger! I do take offense. He is going to be the President, he is going to create wold peace, he is going to do great things... what I hope he is not, is made to feel bad for the color of his hair by growing up being classified and called names for it.
I am a Ginger and honestly, I think I like it better than Red. Maybe because growing up Ginger was not a term but red was. I got Red, Fire Head, it goes on. I hated it. At the time you saw very few people with red hair.
I hate that people say anything at all. I plan to tell Ollie it's because they are jealous! I knew my sister hated her hair growing up, but I never truely understood the attention until my son was born with red hair- to which I LOVE!!!
I love red hair! If ginger offends, I'll stop, but I can't stop admiring the beautiful color of my sister in law and nephew.
Feel better soon girl. Weaning I think is hitting me hard and I feel like my head will explode and I just feel yucky!
Clearly Ginger only half offends. I guess I am sensitive because Ollie is my baby and I feel like people constantly pointing at his hair and commenting is annoying. Yeah, he's got red hair. He also has the sweetest smile too!
I am surrounded by family and friends with red hair, who all use the word ginger with pride and humor! I had no idea it was so touchy with some people! Live and learn I guess...
Exactly April! :)
He's only going to take issue if you do... get over it! People comment because red hair is rare! And rare = beautiful and coveted. It's like a natural blonde living in LA. If you teach him to be sensitive to "Ginger" comments, he will be. If you teach him that, yes - your hair is red - but that doesn't define you, he won't let it bother him! It's your job as a mom to help him pick his battles and this shouldn't be one of them.
I have never used the word ginger, but the only people that I do know who use it actually have red hair. I do have to say that I have always had an obsession with red hair. Growing up I wished for red hair, pale skin, and green eyes. Oh, it's just so beautiful. But I can see how all of the extra attention can get annoying.
Btw, I'm a full time slacker, so don't feel bad. Sometimes momma's got to sleep!!! :)
I am a Ginger and proud of it. I love the term ginger but only gingers are allowed to actually use it. If you're not a ginger, you're not allowed. End of story. I have several posts on my site about Gingers... either being one or what it's like to be one. We even have one for Gingertude ;)
