Oh Facebook... You have gone too far...

I know, HATE is a horrible filthy word, but dammit, Facebook is horrible and filthy too. In the past three days I have had my account locked, claiming I may not be who I say I am, but not that it really matters, because they are holding my Fan Page info hostage until I pay for ads! #Jerks

I am then forced to give personal information, I am not comfortable giving, to unlock my account. Then today, I was asked to verify my account through my phone number.  At first, I thought FINE! I will give it to you, then I read the fine print that it would immediately be posted to my timeline.  NOT COOL! If I wanted the world to have my phone number I would post it on my blog!

EnoughISEnough.  If I do not want to give Facebook my phone number I should not have to. Plus, if you have ever tried to decode the Facebook privacy system you know that is not easy to figure out.  Plus, once I change the settings, Facebook will role out new privacy settings, clear the one's I have made, and only vaguely allude to in an email.

Still.  The personal information phishing is not only what this hatred is all about… I have absolutely had it with…

  • Flimsy privacy policies,
  • The over collection and sharing of my information
  • The posting of my location on every post, like the world needs GPS on me! (Yes, I know I can control it, but I should be able to turn it off!)
  • The "tagging" of my first and last name in posts I do not make, that can be shared on anyone's page.

And the worst of the worst…

  • Bullying me to pay for advertising of my business/blog fan page, so my fans will see my posts!  FYI: Due to concern from page owners over the tremendous drop in organic traffic in the past couple of months, Facebook issued this statement about as to why they are limiting fan page posts in feed. "…competition for each News Feed story is increasing. Because the content in News Feed is always changing, and we’re seeing more people sharing more content, Pages will likely see changes in distribution. For many Pages, this includes a decline in organic reach. We expect this trend to continue as the competition for each story remains strong and we focus on quality. Page owners should continue using the most effective strategy to reach the right people: a combination of engaging Page posts and advertising to promote your message more broadly. Advertising lets Pages reach the fans they already have and find new customers as well.“ -FACEBOOK
Who the hell do they think they are?

No, don't answer that. I will!!

They think they are Social Media Insulin; A social media drug we need to survive.  Well, I will tell you this, I would rather die a social media death then give those blood sucking personal information gathering assholes one more piece of my identity.  Screw you Facebook!

And double screw you for thinking as a blogger/business that I will pay you to advertise my posts to people who already, "Like", my page!  WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?  If people want to see my info they should be able to! Not go through a bunch of steps, only to most likely still not receive the info unless I pay you to show it to them.  OHMIGO… SCREW YOU FACEBOOK!

I am taking a stand!  I refuse to give you anymore of my identity, and surely not one penny of my hard earned money! I don't care if I never get another job through my blog for not having a Facebook Fan page. You are not the end all of social media! And with this holding business/blogger fan page posts hostage until we pay you to give it back the fans... ABSURD! You are shooting yourself in the foot!  Keep this up and soon your shitty fan pages will be revenue-less Ghost Towns.  SCREW YOU FACEBOOK!

If you love al of the great photos and parenting tips and Jokes I put on Facebook, please make sure your settings allow for me in your feeds.  Also 'Like'ing and sharing my content helps to send a message to Facebook.  Other than that, I will find an even better better way to send you awesome stuff… Check us out on Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest too... Oh hell, we are everywhere, take your pick!
