In the words of Punch Buggy Books, I Know Letters by Lisa Daniel Rees,"I know Letters is a fun informational picture eBook and introduction for kids ages three to seven to learn the alphabet and how to recognize letters found in real life settings. This colorful e-book is a must have for kindergarten and primary school students learning to identify and count numbers..."I could not agree more. Each page focuses on a single letter and only that letter. There are no extras added in to confuse or distract a child-- think Flash Cards with a HUGE twist of awesomeness and creativity. For Example: This is the page for the Letter "R"
See, simple, yet interesting. Most of all, the pages of this eBook highlight the letter as it would be seen out for a walk. This makes learning easy, yet provides a much more creative and fun approach to learning each letter. I think this is why flashcards are so popular, they focus on the job at hand, teaching letters, but man are they boring. Conversely, books that have the letter "R" with a bunch of words and photos can completely distract the learning child. There is also the point that my toddler wants to eat flash cards, however, when I showed him, I know Letters on our tablet, each page's letter held his interest because each letter was shown in a different setting.
Here is the page for the Letter "Q":
I think Punch Buggy Books is really on to something here. With no extra words, photos or distractions, each page simply highlights the letter, allowing the child to focus ONLY on the letter. If you are teaching your child letters, than I absolutely suggest you check this eBook out as an option.
