Recently, Kristen Peters, a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner and Certified Aromatherapist, approached me about doing a review (& Giveaway!!) of her products and services. I said ABSOLUTELY, and here is why...
After a terrible auto accident I had, I was tired of taking multiple pills a day to treat all of my ailments. A friend turned me on to aromatherapy and holistic healing. You all... I am SO far from a tree hugger, stone loving dancing moon princess, however, they are all on to something! (Take No Offense Please!) I found so much comfort and relief from different forms of holistic healing. The one thing I still use to this day is aromatherapy to help me relax and fall asleep.
Not only do I love what aromatherapy can do, I know you will love it too! So, to make sure you know all that Kristen can do, and offer, through her services, I've asked her to do a little write up for me.
Without further ado...
Imagine achieving complete relaxation, uplifting the body, mind, and spirit all through your sense of smell. That’s what aromatherapy can do, the ancient art with a history spanning back 6,000 years ago. But what exactly is aromatherapy? It is the controlled used of volatile essential oils extracted from plants to promote health and vitality of the body, mind, and spirit. First believed to have been used in China to achieve harmony and balance. The Egyptians and Romans relied heavily on essential oils from embalming the deceased to dedication ceremonies for the gods, to purification of air and body.
Today aromatherapy is used everywhere and in almost everything. From tobacco to household cleaners we are affected by essential oils in our everyday lives. And their scents can have a dramatic impact on our mood, attitude, appetite, concentration, and much more. Using the right essential oils our lives can be filled with more happiness, motivation, productivity, restful sleep, and less stress. Now doesn’t that sound lovely!
How does aromatherapy work? An essential oil consists of hundreds of individual biochemical components that directly affect the brain. Actually our sense of smell is the only one of our five senses that is directly linked to our limbic system. The limbic system is the emotional control center of our brain. It is also responsible for controlling heart rate, blood pressure, stress levels, and hormone levels. Essential oils act either via stimulation of the nervous system or directly on a tissue or organ. Actually the essential oil molecules pass through our entire body in as little as a half an hour.

Kristen asked me what my biggest issues were, like, insomnia, anxiety, low energy... All I could say was, yes, yes, and yes... In the end, I decided anxiety was my biggest issue. I am a mom, I am constantly worrying about one thing or another! Kristen sent me a personalized anti-anxiety scent in a spray bottle to try out.
I LOVE it! I carry it around all day spraying it in the living room, and before nap time for Ollie to relax, and most of all at the end of the day I spray it on my pillow, and then before I turn out the lights to go to sleep. I love this scent, and will be using it for a very long time to come...
